About Me & LDP
Some of you may know me as the founder & creative director of The Logo Factory - a small graphic design shop that specializes in corporate identity and logos for small to medium sized businesses. And if you didn't, you do now.
So, what's the deal with this directory? There's several resaons actually - I always has a set of resource pages on our main site, but they were in raw HTML, a hassle to maintain, and truth to tell, a little (okay, a lot) on the cluttered side. When people submitted their sites, the listings were invariably keyword-stuffed and not very user friendly, nor nice to read. A while back, I became fascinated with CMS (Content Management System) websites and stumbled into the gear that powers this site. To get a feeling of what's what, I threw it up on an old domain, one that I had left unused for years, and began building a resource library of my favorite spots on the web, complete with fairly robust descriptions of each. Just to play with the new toys. Over a few weeks, my tinkering had turned into a rather hefty set of websites that appealed to me for one reason or another, and before long, I had a pretty decent thing going om. Seemed a good idea to make it official. Now, it's up around 500, 600 pages in total (and growing - the gang at the shop are at it too), so I figured why not let it stand as a real, honest to goodness directory. You can show us your site, and if it's a fit, we'll review it and put it up.
So, what about the logo design design company category? Why is that a paid section? Simple really - if I'm going to do all this work, and folks who are arguably my competition want to take advantage, then it's going to cost them a few bucks. Helps cover the overhead and at the end of the day, everybody wins. Naturally, I'll use the LDP directory to promote my day-to-day gigs, but any sites that I own are treated just like everybody else. There's no special script that favors one site over another - it's all a bunch of random variables that are drawing the information from a MySql server based on user input and ratings.
And that's the story of my humble little directory. In closing, I hope you'll enjoy some of the destinations featured here as much as we did when we first brought them up in our browser.
